TechInAfrica – A Russian cybersecurity company, Kaspersky Lab, has opened a new office in Kigali, Rwanda to boost its presence in East Africa. The new office will provide greater space for Kaspersky Lab and the opportunity for local IT-related companies to work closely with the growing global anti-virus solution provider.
Furthermore, Kaspersky Lab also aims at better serving its partners and customers across the region. It offers potential and a good environment for any kinds of business.
Its decision for choosing Rwanda for the new location is part of its strategic plan which is based on the country’s status as a top IT hub in the East African region. Additionally, Rwanda has technology-pervasive atmosphere and strong support for the cybersecurity sector.
CEO and Founder of Kaspersky Lab, Eugene Kaspersky, stated: “Governments and enterprises need an integrated approach to complex threat detection and response as they fight cybercriminals who have significant financial resources and are constantly looking to exploit any vulnerability.”
The firm’s founder visited Rwanda to attend the Transform Africa Summit and met with Rwandan President, Paul Kagame. His visit to Rwanda is to discuss further collaboration with the government in terms of protecting the country from cyber attacks.
Before attending the Summit, Kaspersky attended and addressed delegates at the National Security Symposium at the Rwanda Defense Force Command. He was scheduled to have discussion sections at Smart Africa on the topic Ensuring Cybersecurity in a Digital Economy, an event co-organized by RISA and Kaspersky Lab.
The Russian company is headquartered in the capital city of Russia, Moscow and a holding company based in the UK. Meanwhile, it has opened 37 offices in 32 countries around the world and protected over 400 million users worldwide.
