The Launch of The First IoT Network in Tunisia

The partnership between Sagemcom and Oorendoo Tunisia has led to the launch of the first  Internet of Things (IoT) network found on LoRa technology in Tunisia. The network will allow devices to exchange a small quantity of data with a standard battery giving an independent battery life of up to ten years. The network will also offer solutions to various fields like Smart City, Smart Industry, Smart Environment and various uses in health, transport, agriculture and many more.

The launch will give Ooredoo’s an opportunity to strengthen its operations in IoT. The launch was made possible via the license given by the Ministry of Information Technologies in June 2017. The technology is the first in Tunisia, and it’s recognized worldwide as the most successful Internet of Things solution.

Sagemcom lauded the collaboration and said that the partnership would not only improve their vision and strategy for the Industrial Internet of Things via their SICONIATM products and solutions but also their long-term presence and support in Tunisia and the whole of Africa. The partnership is also seen as a move to improve the country’s economy.

Sagemcom is a French tech company works on the broadband, smart city, and the Internet of Things markets. The company has been able to employ 4, 000 people from five continents, and it aims at being the first startup in the communication sector. The company currently operates on a revenue of 1.7 pounds.
