Uber has replaced Ebi Atwoli who was their General Manager (GM) for West Africa with Lola Kassim. Lola will be responsible for taking care of the firm’s West Africa strategy, improve its UberX service and create additional value for its driver-partners who are said to be joining Little which is heavily recruiting in Nigeria capital city.
Kassim is born of Nigeria-Canada parents and has a good public policy reputation that will help in Uber’s growth in West Africa. Kassim once worked as a Government Advisor with the Liberian Presidency through the Africa Governance Initiative where she was supporting a unit driving delivery of Presidential infrastructure priorities. At the same time, she has also served in the Canadian Government where she served as a Policy Advisor whose main responsibilities was developing policy, strategy, and business cases regarding socio-economic development programming for Canada’s Aboriginal communities and foreign policy.
She has a good vision for Africa that will help develop a good operating environment for uber as a suitable, alternative mode of transport. Besides creating value for driver-partners and riders, Lola will also be focused on ensuring that the firm continues to engage with its key stakeholders and relevant partners to continued positive impact across West Africa.
