TechInAfrica – Do It Now Now, a company based in London is seeking to support 19 African early-stage startups and connect them to experts and investors through its nine-month virtual accelerator program called AfriTech XYZ. It is a collaborative program with PYPR, Strand Sahara, and Google learning space Academy London aiming at high-growth startups from South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, and Zambia.
To apply for the program, startups must:
- Have been active for up to 5 years
- Majority of the team have attended university or be based in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia.
- Have at least one woman in their leadership team
- Have a working prototype
- Have an active customer base
- Not have received more than £20 000 in grants, investment and or prizes (for qualify startups)
Selected startups will get benefits for the free virtual accelerator program that includes:
- Get access to the exclusive AfriTech XYZ
- Get connected to hubs, incubators, and accelerators
- Get one-to-one mentoring from skilled professionals
- Experience expert video-based teaching in key startup areas like go-to-market strategies, talent acquisition, financial forecasting and investment
- Get support to develop a pitch deck
The program’s selection committee includes Aaron Fu, former MEST Africa’s Managing Director and Fola Olatunji-David, Google’s Head of Startup Success and Services.
According to Do It Now Now, the AfriTech XYZ is hopefully able to help participants to address key challenges in their business, expand the support to help them access funding from local and international early-stage venture capitalists.
