TechInAfrica – Cassava Smartech has launched Maisha Medik, a health assistant aims at helping patients to identify early stages of illnesses. The plan has been made since last year and finally executed in August this year.
The app was designed and developed aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals’ goal 3: Providing good health and wellbeing. It can be accessed easily on smartphones, used to facilitate both patients and health service providers and connect them through an online platform.
“We absolutely believe at Cassava Smartech that the use of the mobile phone is going to give us the opportunity to deliver healthcare at a greater scale than has been done before,” said Denver Phiri, Cassava HealthTech‘s General Manager at Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZiMA) Annual Scientific Congress 2019.
Maisha Medik enables patients to locate doctors and make appointments conveniently. Its main features allow patients to make a teleconference appointment with doctors when they are unable to make a physical appointment or choose not to attend.
Furthermore, they can also locate health service providers and make their search more specific to specialists. As for the health service provider, the app is an integrated online health system, allowing them to have a better management system to offer.
The Maisha Medik app is running on a Microsoft cloud service data storage company, thus, patients who access it via mobile phone will still be able to maintain their privacy and security as it is not be cached.
Besides connecting patients with doctors and health service providers, Maisha Medik has other interesting features, including Dial A Doc, Health Tips, Symptom Checker, and TeleHealth. The app is currently available both on Google Play Store and Apple Store.
