Maltento Raises $3.3 Million to Expand Insect-Based Feed Solutions

Share

Maltento, a business that wants to find functional compounds in insect-based feed solutions, just finished a $3.3 million capital raise with Sand River Venture Capital. The investment is a big step forward in the company’s goal to create new and sustainable solutions for the animal feed market.

We are happy to hear that Sand River is investing in the company because our values are similar, and they are committed to funding innovative solutions for a sustainable future, said Dominic Malan, the marketing director of Maltento in Cape Town, South Africa. “This investment and team will help us reach our goal of becoming a big player in the global market for functional ingredients.

Maltento gets ideas from insects and focuses on making clean, regular, and useful nutrition solutions for markets worldwide that sell animal feed. It has a plant in Epping that can send more than 15 tonnes of processed soldier fly larvae to the U.S. every month. This high-protein addition to chicken feed makes the chickens healthier and helps South Africans get jobs.

With the $3.3 million funding from Sand River, Maltento will be able to speed up its unique approach to insect biotechnology and continue developing Palate+, an innovative way to improve food taste.

The company wants to bring Palate+ to new countries like the United States and the European Union. Maltento hopes this will lead to growth worldwide, more job options, and a better-trained South African workforce.

Greg Robson, a partner at Sand River, said, “Our goal at Sand River is to give money and help to businesses that will restore the natural world and make a lot of money.” “Maltento offers us a great chance. They are easily the best company in their field. We instantly had faith in an entrepreneur who leads them, and their sustainability credentials are game-changing.

We’re looking forward to the trip.”

Maltento has always taken a regenerative approach to making its goods, focusing on minimizing its impact on scarce natural resources and making the most use of traceable co-products from agro-processing industries. Animal-based protein uses 95 times more natural resources per kilogram than insect-based protein. This shows how Maltento’s solutions help the Earth.

The company is still dedicated to using insect biotechnology to make sustainable goods better than what else is on the market. Maltento wants to use the functional benefits of insects to make better feed solutions for animals and help the soil and Earth stay healthy.

Maltento’s feed supplements can address critical concerns such as allergies, inflammation, and gut health by producing insect-based compounds free of antibiotics and growth hormones.

With Sand River Venture Capital’s recent investment, Maltento is in an excellent position to speed up its growth in insect-based feed solutions. The animal feed business will have a brighter and more stable future because the company is committed to sustainability, innovation, and job creation.
