Liquid Telecom Zambia has a new leader in the person of Mark Townsend. The new CEO will be responsible for the leadership and strategic management of the company while in office.
Mark Townsend was raised in Zambia. He has also handled senior leadership roles in the ICT sector in the country. Townsend has three years of experience working with MTN Zambia as director of enterprise business. He has also played several leadership roles in Vodacom and AfriConnect and joined Liquid Telecom, where he was the CEO. Before moving to Liquid Telecom, he was the Managing Director of GardaWorld’s business in Zambia.
Liquid Telecom is working tirelessly to provide much faster and stable connectivity, including digital services for businesses and individuals in the country. And Mark’s arrival coincided with the company’s vision of initiating the next growth phase of the business. Liquid Telecom, formerly Hai, had launched other successful products, before Townsend’s appointment. These include Liquid Data-On-The-Go and Liquid Fibre, which the former CEO of the company, Susan Mulikita, oversaw before resigning to focus on other interests.
Wellington Makamure, Liquid Telecom Southern Africa CEO, gave some notable remark during the appointment of the new CEO, Mark and release of the former CEO, Susan. He thanked Susan for making Liquid Telecom one of the leaders in the fiber network, within a space of one year. Makamure also formally welcomed Mark Townsend to the company.
Wellington Makamure noted that Susan, the outgoing CEO of Liquid Telecom, was a rare gem. He also pointed out that during her time with the company, Susan was able to build healthy relationships with key stakeholders, such as the government, customers and business partners, who are now the key players that Mark Townsend, the newly appointed CEO and his team will continue to engage from time to time.
