MENA edutainment startup Jeel Platform raises a $1.2M seed round

Egypt-Saudi edutainment platform Jeel has raised $1.2 million in a seed funding round led by angel investors drawn from Kuwait and Jordan. In addition to expanding operations, the funds will go towards offering more services, strengthening technical capacity, and expanding the team.

Jeel was founded by Ahmed Sobaih in 2019. The digital platform is headquartered in both Cairo and Riyadh – but was founded in the United States. Jeel offers children exclusive and safe edutainment shows, series, songs, and games that are added to its library. The team working on this platform comprises 60 full-time experts and professionals and over 150 part-time freelance creatives.

Jeel App is tailored for children aged 3 to 9. Parents have access, control tools, and rich parental content. This app is based on educational and psychological criteria that highlight ethics and values.

In the press release, Ahmed Sobaih, Jeel Platform’s CEO, expressed the desire to “launch more products and services soon”  as the company expands further.
