MoBar delivery startup uses mobile app and web to connect consumers and distributors. Currently, this Kenyan’s startup has approximately 1,500 monthly users and makes more than KES 3.5 million in revenue. The company’s main partner is Jeyfine Wines.
During an interview with Disrupt Africa, a co-founder said that the company focuses on building a demand-driven and e-commerce business. It applies the use of a mobile app to connect consumers and suppliers through couriers. The business guarantees customers an hourly delivery of on-demand commodities in the market. The startup’s primary product is alcohol but plans to expand to other commodities soon. The company utilized the untapped opportunity of inadequate delivery firms in the country. Most customers prefer the use of guaranteed, convenience and online delivery platforms. The delivery companies in Kenya are 24 hours-oriented. This market gap enhanced the growth of MoBar Company which was launched last year.
The company users refer others who need delivery services. Starting from early this year, the company realized 32% increase in revenue. The revenue is larger as compared to December last year. The company is planning to launch operations outside Nairobi. The areas under consideration are Nyali and Bamburi in Mombasa. Besides expansion, the startup is also raising funds for sales and tech development. The startup’s current goal is to become the market leader in alcohol delivery in Kenya. It is also finalizing negotiations to venture into the FMCG space as well. Apart from alcohol, the company will deliver groceries and food commodities in future.
