Morocco to Host Two Consecutive Editions of DEMO Africa Annual Summit

Morocco will host 2018 and 2019 DEMO Africa annual events. The application process for this year’s event is ongoing and will close on 15 June. October this year is the scheduled date for the DEMO event. The main goal of the event is to provide linkage for tech startups. The targeted players are the technology stakeholders and investors. This initiative will connect tech startups in Africa with the international tech ecosystem. Over 500 participants constituting VC and angel investors will attend the Morocco gathering.

Africa Technology Foundation (ATF) the US-based Lions@frica managing partner confirmed the events. The statement dated 26 March declared Morocco to host both 2018 and 2019 DEMO Africa Summits. Harry Hare, the DEMO Africa executive director noted the untapped opportunities in the region. He added that the two consecutive DEMO Africa editions will take place in Morocco for the first time.

Stephen Ozoigbo, noted that the event will generate positive impact in the region. The benefits are mitigation of language barriers and engagement with the francophone startups in Africa.

The program as so far launched 205 African startups since the last six editions. More than $50-million findings collected during the annual summit. The successful 30 startups will pitch their business ideas. The panelists will include tech stakeholders, investor as well as media. The winners will take home award worth $150 000 for tools and software. Other benefits comprise of the two-day bootcamp and eight-weeks mentoring program. The mentorship initiative will enhance investment and market expansion.
