mSurvey is a Kenyan based startup that was founded in 2021. The startup offers a mobile service platform. The platform helps businesses to get feedback directly from their clients through the mobile survey. So far the startup has worked with above 150 brands. The brands include Java House Africa, Safaricom, Mckinsey Company and others.
mSurvey has managed to get investment round worth $3.5 million that was led by TLCom Capital. Furthermore, the series recorded participation of Richard Owen, Golden Palm, Social Capital and Kapor Capital. Owen is a co-founder of Net Promoter Score (NPS). In the past mSurvey raised investment from Safaricom’s Spark Venture Fund, Cross Culture Ventures, and Alpha Angels.
The startup is now locating consumer partners according to mSurvey’s Co-Founder & CEO, Dr. Kenfield Griffith. The startup is also planning to put up offices in South Africa and Nigeria before the end of this year. This makes them excited to study more about consumers in these countries in the next months. The two countries have the largest economies in Africa. This is why the startup opted to pitch tents in those countries as it continues to expand on its Kenyan territory.
It recently released its Q1 2018 NPS report. The report addresses the consumer preferred brands. NPS is the preferred metric that is used by the leading brands. It is used to tell their chances of getting consumer’s recommendation. According to NPS in Kenya, the startup realized that on telcos side, consumers appreciate fast and affordable data. This is why the startup’s research found out that Telcom had the highest NPS. Safaricom came second at a close range. Some of the companies hosted in African SMS and offline survey markets include Bamba Group and Echo Mobile. Bamba Group consists of TechStars, Silicon Valley Bank, Draper Associates, Foundry Group, and many private investors. Private investors include Darshan Chandaria and Edward J Mathias.
The increasing number of funding and startups shows the rising demand for survey firms that help brands to know their consumers. Smartphone recorded more than half of the phones shipped in Africa in 2016. The continent is increasingly opening up for penetration of mobile internet. Furthermore, the demand for faster and affordable internet is expected to increase. This gives a better opportunity for operators to support internet growth and customer’s uptake in Africa.
