Mike Silber, former Group Chief Regulatory Officer at Liquid Telecom for five years, has been appointed as Group Executive Regulatory at MTN Group.

He has been instrumental in the expansion of Africa’s cross-border fiber network and its largest networked data center operation. His unwavering commitment to enhancing Africa’s digital infrastructure and adept navigation of intricate legal, policy, and regulatory challenges highlight his dedication to driving business success and enhancing connectivity across the continent.

Lele Modise, Group Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer, expressed her enthusiasm about Mike’s appointment, stating, “Mike’s extensive background, spanning legal expertise and regulatory leadership across Africa and beyond, makes him a valuable addition to our team. With a robust background spanning 25 years in the telecommunications and internet sectors, Mike possesses a wealth of expertise in navigating business obstacles and devising innovative remedies. As a prominent South African attorney, Mike is equipped with B Proc and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and has contributed to several industry boards, such as ISPA South Africa and ICANN.
