The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) was signed on Wednesday this week by forty- four African countries. The 19th March event was conducted in Accra Ghana. The initiative major goal is to improve trade relations across African nations by establishing a single market platform.
According to the high commissioner of South Africa in Ghana, Lulama Xingwana, there is a great need for promoting intra-Africa trade. He added that Ghana and South Africa have large potentials of gaining from bilateral-trade now and in the future. He appealed for immediate actions to help in strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries. Ghana is the main trade partner of South Africa in the western Africa region. There are also huge numbers of South Africa companies operating in Ghana. Additionally, there are more South Africa key delegations in the country over a long period of time. The chief director of Trade Invest Africa Zanele Sanni encouraged South Africa to make good use of business opportunities in Ghana.
