Share

TechInAfrica – There are yet any announcements in regards to the landing of Samsung’s latest payment solution, called Samsung Pay cash in Africa. With Samsung Pay has been available for the locals at roughly a year already, allows the service to let customers making payments at ease via Samsung mobile devices, the South Korean firm hasn’t confirmed any launch of Samsung Pay Cash in the country.

“Unlike a gift card, Samsung Pay Cash can be used anywhere Samsung Pay and Mastercard are accepted – including with e-commerce retailers. And when you use Samsung Pay Cash to shop, you earn Samsung Rewards points; points can be redeemed for Samsung products, instant win prizes, and more,” explains Samsung’s American blog about the new service.

In short, the service embodies a form of prepaid type of card that lets customers spend in accordance to the available amount in the card. The virtual card is a handy solution when keeping track of your expenses. Whether you need to set a specific budget for payment, using Samsung Pay Cash limits your spending. Other case that illustrates this benefit is when parents are giving their children the virtual cash that’s kept in the prepaid card, which will prevent the children from buying off-limit stuff.

Termed as having ‘cash in your wallet’, Pay Cash differs from a gift card as it is more flexible in terms of its usage in any merchants that accept payment by the prepaid card, with Mastercard as the facilitator. While Samsung hasn’t made any official announcement about the Pay Cash initiative in the same region where Samsung Pay has been operating, the company gives $5 worth of credit for the first 20,000 people signing up for the service.
