Cisco, a world leader in technology, and NTT Ltd., a global leader in IT infrastructure and services and the parent company of Dimension Data, have said they will work together to help the Automotive, Logistics, Healthcare, Retail, and Public sectors adopt Private 5G.
NTT and Cisco plan to work together to develop and market the technology and managed services that will help enterprise customers successfully implement Private 5G and get better business results.
The companies plan to speed up edge connectivity with NTT’s first-to-market Managed Private 5G solution and Intel hardware. Cisco and NTT customers can easily add Private 5G to their existing LAN/WAN/Cloud infrastructure.
Together, the companies can quickly enable essential Industry 4.0 features like push-to-talk “walkie-talkie” communications, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), always-connected PCs (for digital frontline workers), machine vision (e.g., predictive maintenance, PPE detection), and more.
Cisco and NTT have already started working together on several client deployments. Using NTT’s IoT-connected solutions, the two companies also plan to use computer vision to analyze the quality of products, predictive analytics to improve the functionality and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, and autonomous vehicles to move products around the factory floor.
“We hope to help our enterprise customers accelerate digital transformation by combining the power of 5G and Wi-Fi across IT and OT operations,” said Masum Mir, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Provider Mobility, Cisco Networking.
Our cloud-managed private 5G gives customers seamless integration with their Enterprise network fabric, a common policy, and zero trust security architecture. This helps reduce the technical, financial, and operational risks of managing 5G networks so they can focus on making their businesses more agile and efficient.
This is a natural extension of the cutting-edge skills and services NTT offers to help our clients modernize their businesses worldwide. NTT and Cisco are working together to make a purely private network solution easy to manage, said Shahid Ahmed, Executive Vice President of New Ventures and Innovation at NTT.
“As Cisco’s top systems integrator partner, our two companies are well positioned to provide a secure, reliable, and future-proof private 5G network to our joint enterprise customers with global footprints.”
For Cisco’s Private 5G, NTT will design the network infrastructure, set it up, run it, develop use cases, find compatible devices, and test it from beginning to end.
