TechInAfrica – An off-grid utility provider, Winch Energy, has recently announced its new ambassador for the African continent. The new ambassador is a Franco-Benin and energy expert, Olga Johnson. Previously, Mrs. Johnson was the Executive Director of Energies Pour l’Afrique founded by Jean-Louis Borloo, a former French Minister of State.
In addition to her achievement, Mrs. Johnson is also the ambassador of Women in Africa Initiative, a well-known international platform focusing on the economic development and empowering leading and high potential African women.
Speaking about Winch Energy, it’s specialized in the energy, telecommunications, internet, financial and retail services. Their operations spread across four African countries which soon make it five. In 2019, it’s expecting to provide 50,000 electricity meters to more than 300,000 customers with around 1.5 million people will get the benefit from.
Furthermore, Winch Energy is also working with various local developers and help them to secure investment and licenses. With its one of unique technologies, Remote Power Unit (RPU), the company offers affordable and reliable services to its customers. By doing this, it has helped to generate local economic development and opportunities for commerce activities and employment.
With her appointment as the ambassador of Winch Energy, Mrs. Johnson will help to strengthen the company’s relationships as well as increase its visibility with African local banks, NGOs, as well as global lending organizations.

I am looking forward to working with Winch Energy to make my dream of having over 80% access to energy, especially in rural area, a reality.”
