TechInAfrica – Uksheshe has signed the agreement to take on the digital payments platform, Oltio. This platform supports Masterpass – a QR payment service from MasterCard that operates in South Africa with more than 300,000 traders and billers.

In South Africa, the utilization of QR codes provides merchants of various sizes, ranging from large retailers bond to individual shop owners and street vendors. QR code becomes the fast, secure, and cheap way to receive payments.

The agreement between those two companies is expected to support the partnership with MasterCard in integrating Ukheshe’s skill to overcome the afflict points of the local market by using the global scale, technology, and payment expertise from MasterCard.

The same support will also be provided by Ukheshe for the banks and other service providers that currently bring Masterpass, making sure business will run smoothly without giving impact to consumers or merchants.

Clayton Hayward, CEO of Ukheshe stated that Oltio is suitable for Ukheshe regarding its impressive track record in developing solutions that focused on mobile and the strong partnership between fintech and MasterCard. The main priority is also the same, providing digital-first solutions for consumers.

Ukheshe is in the right place to carry on the process of providing fintech, telcos, and banks with the payment solution and service that will intensify South Africa’s financial inclusion. The solution and service are provided by allowing various segments of customers to be part of the partnership with Mastercard.
