During Africa 2017 Forum which was held in Cairo, Egypt on 10th December 2017 the CEO of Nawah-Scientific Omar Sakr won the elevator pitch prize. The prize was awarded to him by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. The winner was chosen out of the 18 startups and entrepreneurs shortlisted to showcase their projects and ideas. After winning the prize, Sakr got a ticket to attend Stanford Business School in California.
The completion was part of the Young Entrepreneurs Day that gave a chance to African startups to gain exposure and raise their reputation by setting up their business ideas to an international delegation of executives representing capital prospects, business mentors, and advisors.
Sakr was happy with winning the award given the stiff competition from various startups that took part in the forum. The startup is the first privately owned and with the various disciplines research center in Egypt attending to medical and natural scientists. The platform which operates online, gets task request from individual scientists or industrial clients, samples to be analyzed are taken up through a partnership with courier services, experiments then carried out by highly rated scientists and later on results are directed back to the customer through online.
