OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan for its AI-powered chatbot platform, ChatGPT.

In a bid to expand the commercial applications of its AI technology, OpenAI has launched a $200/month subscription for ChatGPT, its AI-driven chatbot platform. This offering is specifically tailored for professionals in engineering and academia.

OpenAI’s existing ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise plans will be complemented by a new tier, ChatGPT Pro. This move reflects the company’s strategy to further commercialize its technology, which played a pivotal role in driving the AI revolution.

The company states that ChatGPT Pro will provide users with unlimited access to OpenAI’s latest advancements, including the new reasoning model o1, o1 small, GPT-4o, and advanced voice capabilities. Additionally, the subscription includes O1 Pro Mode, a version that utilizes enhanced processing power to handle more complex queries.

OpenAI claims that the O1 Pro Mode surpasses the o1 and o1-preview versions in machine learning benchmarks, particularly in areas such as mathematics, science, and coding.

Jason Wei, a member of OpenAI’s technical team, remarked, “We believe the target audience for ChatGPT Pro will be power users—those who are already testing the limits of the models in areas like mathematics, programming, and writing.”

In the near future, O1 will be available via OpenAI’s API, introducing new features such as image analysis and function calling, which allows the use of external tools. OpenAI has also announced that web browsing, file uploads, and additional features will be rolled out in the coming months.
