TechInAfrica – The Norwegian-based web browser Opera now have added Celo native token to its built-in crypto wallet.
The Head of Crypto and VP Business Development and Mobile at Opera, Cuautemoc Weber said that the mobile-first approach suits the needs of the company’s million of mobile users.
“Celo is putting financial apps and services into the pockets of millions of people, for whom their phone is the most important device that they use.”
Part of the multinational technology company’s reason to add Celo integration with its cUSD and cEUR stablecoins is due to the range of their most user base whom are distributed in the Africa countries, along with Philippines and LATAM, and that they may have struggled with access to financial services with the limited cash out options.
“Fiat volatility can be challenging, and remittance costs are high,” Weber adds. “Celo makes this possible with just a mobile phone number.”
“As the first major browser to integrate a crypto wallet, Opera is pioneering a familiar tool – a mobile browser – to put usable crypto directly in the hands of real people,” said Rene Reinsberg, co-founder of Celo.
According to Reinsberg, Opera will be able to provide access to millions of users to new saving, P2P payments now made possible, and a cash in or cash out service with its Celo integration, that have give them room to use Celo assets and ecosystem with ease.
Celo has been integrated in more than 100 countries to send and receive money by the use of tokens.
Users can go to Opera Wallet and make their purchase for the native token via Ramp.
