Share

UK-based e-mobility startup OX Delivers has secured a landmark $163 million agreement to revolutionize transportation infrastructure across East Africa. The strategic investment marks a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion efforts.

The comprehensive partnership will establish OX East Africa, a new franchise targeting multiple countries in the region. Initially focusing on Rwanda, the initiative plans to extend operations to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi in subsequent phases.

OX Delivers will introduce a fleet of all-electric trucks accompanied by advanced technology platforms and comprehensive maintenance services. The innovative approach aims to address critical transportation challenges faced by small-scale traders and agricultural entrepreneurs.

Since launching in Rwanda during 2021, the company has already supported over 5,000 clients, primarily smallholder farmers and local merchants. The service dramatically reduces transportation times, enabling traders to reach markets more efficiently and potentially increase their sales revenues.

Colin Tebbett, who will lead the new franchise, emphasized the transformative potential of the project. He highlighted the company’s positive impact on local businesses and its commitment to economic empowerment in the region.

CEO and Co-Founder Simon Davis described the agreement as a critical milestone for the organization. The expansion represents a strategic approach to addressing transportation inefficiencies in developing markets.

The company’s financial performance demonstrates significant potential. During the previous fiscal year, OX Delivers generated over $920,000 in revenue. This achievement underscores the growing demand for innovative transportation solutions in emerging economies.

Transportation costs in developing countries typically exceed those in established nations, creating substantial barriers for small businesses. OX Delivers aims to provide a cost-effective alternative that promotes economic development and social transformation.

The electric vehicle fleet represents more than a technological innovation. It embodies a comprehensive approach to addressing logistical challenges, supporting local entrepreneurs, and creating sustainable mobility solutions.

By introducing advanced electric vehicles and technology platforms, OX Delivers is positioning itself as a key player in the region’s transportation ecosystem. The initiative promises to unlock new economic opportunities for small-scale traders across East Africa.

The strategic expansion reflects a broader trend of technological innovation addressing complex economic challenges in developing markets. OX Delivers continues to demonstrate how targeted technological solutions can drive meaningful social and economic progress.
