TechInAfrica – Phanes Group has named Gossas Solar Farm Project (30MW) as the winner of Solar Incubator that was held at “Unlocking Solar Capital: Africa” Conference in Kigali, Rwanda. Gossas Solar Farm Project won over the other two finalists after demonstrating their ideas in a proposal assessed by experts, including responsibility, ECREEE, Hogan Lovells, Phanes Group, RINA, as well as African Development Bank (AfDB).

Speaking about the selection of Gossas Solar Farm Project as the winner, the COO of Phanes Group Andrea Haupts said, “We are proud to announce Mr. Hadj as the winner of this year’s Solar Incubator. It was a difficult decision as we received a strong response of project proposals with the potential to positively impact their communities. Our experience now in the second year of the incubator encourages us to continue with this initiative because there is a great deal of local talent on the continent who have the potential to benefit from such a platform.”

Coming as the winner, Solar Project will build a long-term collaboration in order to succeed in the solar energy project. The Solar Incubator will enable Mbaye Hadj of Solar Energy to have an intensive workshop, working with Phanes Group’s team and partners to set out a ‘bankable project’. At the same time, Hadj will have access to commercial and technical knowledge provided by experts from the finance project, project development, and execution. Moreover, Hadj will also have mentoring sessions for a few months.

“Ultimately, Mr. Hadj’s project convinced the evaluation panel not only with its strong CSR component but also with his knowledge and commitment to the region where he hails from. We believe in Mr. Hadj’s determination to bring his project to life in a challenging market environment, where our expertise and training can make a difference,”

“We look forward to welcoming him to Dubai, and want to encourage the other candidates to keep persevering in bringing their proposals to fruition, as everyone would have deserved to win,” said Haupts.

The current Solar Incubator went with the theme, “Your Project, Our Expertise, For a Sustainable Future”, providing commercial and technical knowledge to further funding entrepreneurs across Sub-Saharan Africa.
