RCS is the largest consumer finance startup in South Africa. It provides loans, cards and insurance covers in other African states apart from South Africa. The company was founded by the BNP Paribas situated in Europe. Other countries where RCS operates are Botswana and Namibia. The startup is also the chief sponsor of the 2018 Startupbootcamp Africa program. The main goal of supporting the event was to enjoy the startup’s innovative ideas.
According to Regan Adams, agility and speed are the critical elements for startup development. He also added that startup is solution oriented and creative. This enables them to provide real-life business problems. Furthermore, the event allows the startups to secure a partnership with RCS. He noted that the startupbootcamp program develops new companies. The initiative support startups through mentorship and personal solution making. The program’s strategies include public relation, marketing, financing and product development.
Mr. Adam emphasized that business partnership is vital for the growth of the fintech enterprises globally. RCS has so far integrated two startups into commercial businesses. The company launched chatbot in March to help its clients in making inquiries. The Chatbot initiative traced its origin from GotBot which participated in the last year’s program. He concluded that corporate should clearly specify business strategies before acquiring startups.
