On Monday, February 20, 2023, the European Union Delegation in Rwanda, the Embassies of EU Member States, and their agencies took part in Ride Rwanda 2023. This four-day cycling event was part of the annual Tour du Rwanda cycling event.

In the first stages of the race, between Kigali and Rwamagana and from Muhanga to Gisagara, about 30 Team Europe riders took part. This is the third year in a row that Team Europe has taken part in the race.

Team Europe riders not only took part in the race but also got to see the beautiful scenery of Rwanda, from the rolling hills of the countryside to the busy streets of Kigali and other cities.

Team Europe’s participation shows how Rwanda has a lot of potentials to host high-level sports events like the Tour du Rwanda and become a top destination for active tourists looking for new sports and adventure opportunities.

The goal of Team Europe’s participation in Ride Rwanda 2023 is also to show the spirit and priorities of “Team Europe.” As part of the Green Deal, the EU and its member states are working with Rwanda on making agriculture and transportation more resistant to climate change.
