VALR, an SA-based cryptocurrency exchange has launched VALR Pay, a free, fast, and easy way of sending SA Rand payments to different mobile numbers and email addresses.
Founded in 2018, the digital asset trading platform VALR allows customers to buy, sell, store and transfer their cryptocurrencies securely. VALR also offers a wide selection of digital assets to users. In 2019, the company launched trading in Bitcoin-Rand and has thus far processed over R60 billion worth of crypto trading.
The past two years have seen VALR grow its customer base to over 150 000 accounts while offering low trading fees and possibly the largest selection of cryptocurrencies across South Africa.
Farzam Ehsani VALR CEO describes the platform as “free, fast and easy.” VALR Pay allows the sending ZAR to VALR users at no cost. Customers can also send ZAR to an email address or mobile number even if the recipient has no VALR account upon which the recipient will get an SMS or e-mail with an invite to sign up for a VALR account and claim the funds.
Since its inception, VALR has raised R79 million in funding and attracted lead investors such as Micheal Jordan, 4Di Capital, and others.
