SafeMotos, a Rwanda based platform for ordering professional and safe motos by clients to their customers have added the first three female moto-drivers to its network. The startup allows their motos to be picked up in their preferred locations within Rwanda.

The startup hired Sandrine Nikuze as its Rwanda’s manager with the main role of running and setting up its programs in Rwanda. Moreover, it received aid from Rwanda’s Bajaj which gave it motorcycle taxis. The startup is also in the process of developing a product that will match female drivers to their female counterpart customers.

In 2017, SafeMotos launched SafeMotos Institute for training and sourcing female drivers. From its establishment, SafeMotos has only been having male drivers but now they want to change the trend.

According to the CEO and co-founder of SafeMotos, Barrett Nash, the company takes pride in having male drivers. Moreover, Nash said that the move now makes the management believe that nothing is impossible. Furthermore, Nash said that the move is geared towards economic empowerment in Rwanda for all.

SafeMotos currently works with additional 40 women under training who will soon join the three.
