TechInAfrica – SBC AfriTech or Startup Boot Camp AfriTech has selected 11 tech startups to join its third cohort that will start next month in Cape Town, South Africa. They were selected by the accelerator which consists of three startups from South Africa, two startups from Nigeria, and one each from Kenya, Morocco, Uganda, the UK, Senegal, and Zimbabwe.
They were selected out of 22 shortlisted startups in the final selection process held for two days (July 10th and 11th) at Amazon Web Services’ head office in Cape Town. They pitched their solutions in front of corporate sponsors, investors, and other attendees.
These are the 11 selected startups who will join the third cohort of SBC AfriTech:
- Asilimia(Kenya) – It digitizes payments for small businesses in Kenya, allowing them to access formal financial services.
- Cinnamon Clubs(Uganda) – It runs a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) platform designed to improve the efficiency of community savings groups through the automation of their financial activities and records.
- Convergenc3 Databotics (South Africa) – It employs transformative technologies within proven frameworks that fast-track delivery and delivers robotic process automation and data science solutions.
- Curacel Systems(Nigeria) – It is building an intelligent fraud detection solution and claim fast-tracking technology for African health insurers.
- HouseAfrica(Nigeria) – It aims to help Africans to own shares in multiple properties.
- Rentoza(South Africa) – It offers a seamless online marketplace for asset rentals that enables customers to live life on their own terms.
- Snapslip Holdings(South Africa) – It is a digital receipting and analytics application that completely eradicates the need for paper receipts.
- Survey54(UK) – It has an automated survey platform to help companies collect consumer data in emerging markets.
- Weego (Morroco) – A user-based transport app that helps communities in emerging and developing countries to commute on a daily basis.
- Yobante Express(Senegal) – A last-mile delivery digital platform that connects drivers with users who request logistics services.
- YouFarm!(Zimbabwe) – It provides farmers with access to collateral-free finance by getting people to invest in crops and livestock and share the profits with the farmers when the produce goes to market.
The third cohort of SBC AfriTech will take place on August 12 and end in a demo day on November 7, 2019. During the three month program, they will have a chance to scale, pilots, and conceptualize their ideas with the program’s sponsors and so on.
