TechInAfrica – The South African security estate, Midstream Estate, has launched a mobile app that works to notify its residents of events and service disruptions, as well as enables them to send emergency requests for security and paramedics.
Midstream Estate is a self-contained village in the middle of Gauteng that has shopping centers, schools, hospitals, churches, sporting facilities, restaurants, etc. As one of South Africa’s top estate, Midstream Estate has a strong focus on secure living for its residents.
The mobile app was developed by Codehesion and launched last week. It was designed to provide residents an easy-to-use platform with all the information and security needs. All information about services available in the estate can be accessed through the mobile app. Moreover, residents can also make a request for emergency services.
The emergency requests include requests for paramedics, security, as well as snake and bee removal. The mobile uses the location feature on users’ smartphone to ensure that they are within the Midstream precinct.
The mobile app will verify the contact details as well as users’ addresses in order to give the users access to the emergency call functionality and streamline the proses. As for special events and service disruptions, the mobile app will also notify the resident through push notifications.
The app was downloaded more than 1,500 times within the first two days, showing the high demand for the service. The Midstream Estate mobile app is currently available for both Android and iPhone users.
