Tanzania startup Kilimo Fresh wins $50K equity during MEST Africa challenge

Kilimo Fresh is a Tanzanian produce distribution startup distributing fresh produce to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, wholesalers, institutions, and export markets. The young company won $50,000 equity investment as part of the MEST Africa Challenge.

Other African startups that made it to the MEST Africa challenge were Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, and Tanzania. The event is run by the pan-African training programme, incubator, seed fund, and hub MEST Africa.

Last year’s challenge programme had 3 winners, where they won US$50,000 worth of equity investment, access to  Microsoft support, mentorship, and a robust networking pool among startup hubs in the continent.

Kilimo Fresh emerged winner after a virtual pitch held on August 12 for its digital farming solutions.
