TechInAfrica – TECNO Mobile has recently launched its latest 3G smart feature phone, T901 which is powered by KaiOS. This partnership is a significant step for both companies to provide affordable smart feature phone for users. It is reported that the T901 will be available in three options: black, gold, and blue.

Stephen Ha, Managing Director of TECNO Mobile, said: “With the arrival of T901 powered by KaiOS, users gain access to apps such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Google Maps, and others on an affordable TECNO smart feature phone for the first time. The phone also supports GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G, with significant network speed growth and better anti-signal interference performance as well as faster signal reception in call mode than those in 2G. T901 also comes equipped with the Google Assistant, allowing users to operate the device with their voice. In addition to Ha’s statement, Sebastian Codeville, CEO of KaiOS Technologies said that the partnership is a milestone for both TECNO and KaiOS. The T901 is available with a 2.4-inch QVGA display with 240×320 pixel resolution. It hybrid dual-SIM slot that supports for two SIM cards as well as 512MB and 256MB memory. Meanwhile, for the power supply, the smart feature phone is equipped with a 1900mAh battery. In terms of camera, the T901 has a front and a rear camera with a built-in flashlight that is useful as lighting for producing clearer photos in the dark environments.

KaiOS enables a new category of affordable smart feature phones that require limited memory, while at the same time also offering rich user experience. They support 3G and 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC.  In additions, there are also popular apps and services such as WhatsApp, the Google Assistant, Facebook, YouTube, and Google Maps, an apps store called the KaiStore.
