The 2021 edition of the Ecobank Fintech Challenge now open for applicants

African fintech enterpreneurs are encouraged to apply for the Ecobank fintech challenge supported by the pan-African banking group. This is the 4th edition of the Ecobank Fintech Challenge and part of the bank’s commitment towards digitization by empowering African startups with an opportunity to bolster their fintech solutions. Startups can partner with Ecobank in scaling their solutions across the banks’ 33 markets and international presence in France.

African startups and developers from all 54 countries and other globally centered fintechs can drop their applications on the application website. All finalists will make it to the banks’ fintech fellowship after the finals and award ceremony in November 2021. Cash prizes of $15,000, $12,000, and $10,000 will go to the top 3 finalists.

In a statement shared in the APO-distributed press release, Ecobank Group CEO Mr. Ade Ayeyemi reiterated the financial institution’s plan to “digitize and transform banking operations.” while further adding that innovation and technology are the future of banking.”

This challenge resulted in Ecobank successfully launching the Ecobank Investor App developed by Finance Mobile – a startup from the 2017 Ecobank Fintech Fellows cohort. The Ecobank Fintech Challenge is designed in partnership with Konfidants (an advisory firm) and several other African partners across the continent and globally such as Nedbank VC, Catalyst Fund, ACCION, and Cellulant. The application window closes on 20th September 2021.
