The Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced the Blockchain Developers Scholarship to train 30,000 Nigerians on blockchain technology.

Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director General/CEO of NITDA, announced the scheme at the Blockchain-day of “Digital Nigeria” event on October 26, 2022. He said the scholarship will help “speed up the adoption of blockchain in Nigeria and make Nigeria a global player in the blockchain industry.”

He told Nigerians to use the scholarship to become “early providers of solutions in the fourth industrial revolution.”

The plan’s implementing partner is Domineum Blockchain Solutions, and BSV Blockchain Academy provides the course content.

In response to the news, the co-founder of Domineum, Mr Mohammed Jega, said that the company was still committed to providing “quality education and giving participants the skills to build real-life blockchain solutions.”

Calistus Igwilo, the Course Coordinator and Country CTO of Domineum said something similar: “Blockchain will power the next generation of data, and the courses are carefully designed to give participants the skills that would help them become experts and help shape the future of the blockchain industry.”

Evan Freeman, the director of the BSV Blockchain Association, said, “The BSV academy is here to give people the knowledge and skills they need to become real leaders, innovators, creators, and developers in this space, using the most advanced and capable enterprise blockchain: BSV.”

The 12-week program comprises 7 weeks of classes and 5 weeks of working on projects. All of the states in the federation will offer classes through a mix of online courses and in-person meetings.

During the project phase, the best teams can join an incubation program in London. Other groups will be introduced to the BSV Ecosystem, where they can work on different projects.
