The SA Innovation Summit has kicked off culminating in a speech by Cathy Smith, MD of SAP Africa, who is calling for greater use and adoption of technology required in solving Africa’s challenges. The keynote was delivered by Cathy Smith who delivered the keynote titled, “The path to inclusive economic recovery in Africa.”
SAIS2021 holds the continent’s largest tech startup gatherings connecting tech entrepreneurs working to scale with potential investors while finding innovative solutions that bedevil Africa. Smith argued for the role of technology in the progression of the sectors of education, food security, healthcare, trade, and infrastructure.
Over the next 3 decades, the doubling African population will create several challenges from urbanization to climate change. She addressed over 1500 serial entrepreneurs, early-stage entrepreneurs, and other industry thought leaders attending the 3-day hybrid event.
Smith lauds the continent’s corporates mentioning how funding from venture capital firms has significantly increased in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.
