SMFEST (Social Media Fest) has announced that its second event will be held on October 22, 2022, at the Landmark Event Centre in Owerri, Imo State, with the theme “CREATIVE DISRUPTION.”
SMFest is an international conference held every year to bring together the most brilliant and creative thinkers in the field of technology.
It is a platform that educates its audience on how to improve its businesses, brands, and personal brands by leveraging the power of technology, social media, and innovation. And causes by providing ideas, exposure, and insights that assist individuals in understanding how to fully explore all of the advantages of digitization.
Three primary goals drive SMFEST; to create a physical space for an army of young people on social media; to utilize the forum to advance diverse creativity in the technological industry and other careers, and to reinforce positive values as a strategy for combating crime and deviance. The slug line for SMFEST is connected, innovating, and growing.
The idea behind this year’s theme, “CREATIVE DISRUPTION,” came from the desire to bring about significant shifts in various fields through new technologies and ideas.
This event will also investigate how to influence learning paradigms and how to develop or contribute to policies that nurture an enabling environment. This will allow for the production and retention of talents that will creatively change the status quo and drive the future.
Keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside chats, and workshops are the components that make up a typical SMFEST event. The event also features the most notable speakers, facilitators, and panelists in their respective fields.
This year, notable figures such as Obinna Ukachukwu (a senior bank executive), Mr. Ugochukwu Omeugo (the founder of Merignos Consulting and Mentoring Ltd. and a former consultant for Joseph Consulting), Chukwuemeka Emmanuel A.K.A. Sabinus (an award-winning skit maker), Excel Ajah (the CEO of Silicon Africa Technologies Ltd. and the SMFEST Convener), and Nelly Agbogu (Naija Brand Chic), Chioma Ifeanyi Eze (Accounting Hub Nigeria), Jude Umeanor (Founder, Nigeria Bitcoin Community), as well as Emeka Nobis (Founder, Switchpath Consulting) were the three individuals who presented.
On October 23, 2022, the technology and social media event debuted for the first time. More than 1,400 people participated in it, hailing from the state that hosted it and adjacent states. For its second iteration, SMFEST aims for 1,700 people to attend in person and approximately 1,000 people to attend digitally.
One of the most exciting aspects of SMFEST 2.0 is the Hackathon, which gives creative individuals the opportunity to work together on developing a digital answer to the challenge of obtaining finance in Nigeria and other African countries. The winner of this competition will receive the amount of # 1,000,000 (One Million Naira), which has been put aside for them.
Getting ready for this year’s edition, the convener, Mr. Ajah Excel, said that the first edition of SMFEST Owerri exposed several businesses to new ideas and a network of persons that increased their clientele and revenue by at least 30 cents and that they are planning to double the result this time.
