Binance Charity, the company’s philanthropic arm, has teamed up with Utiva, a tech education company in Africa that helps young people learn tech skills. Binance is the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange and blockchain infrastructure provider.
The new partnership will teach technology to 50,000 young people and give 1,000 Africans full scholarships to a one-year intensive skill training program. The partnership aims to help the continent become more economically stable by teaching people new skills and giving them access to a wide range of jobs in the technology and Web3 sectors.
We believe that the benefits and vast opportunities provided by Web3 should be available to all. Increasing technical education and professional training are critical to making this a reality. We’re excited to collaborate with Utiva to engage African youth and support the continent’s next generation of industry shapers.” Helen Hai, Head of Binance Charity, stated
Launched on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Utiva office in Lagos, Nigeria, the workshop was attended by about 50 young people who will be part of the first group to get fully-funded training and sponsorship.
Africans have a lot of skills and are willing to put in a lot of effort. Still, often, the lack of money can be a huge limiting factor when it comes to pursuing a worthy goal such as getting into the technology industry.” We are thrilled that Binance Charity understands the African pain point and has partnered with us at Utiva to assist thousands of Africans and lower the barrier to entry for many,” said Eyitayo Ogunmola, CEO of Utiva.
Students learned about Blockchain Technology and Software Development at the launch workshop for four hours. This is the first day of a 12-month commitment to the educational program. This project is part of the larger Binance Scholar Program, which started earlier this year and now has projects in Ukraine, South Africa, France, and Brazil.
