Pan-Africa’s Ecobank has announced the winner of the fourth edition of this year’s Ecobank Fintech Challenge as Nigeria deal-sharing app Trove Finance. The Grande finale was held on December 9. The Ecobank Fintech Challenge stands out as one of the flagship events of the Ecobank Group. It runs to support and entice early-stage fintech startups across the African continent. This year’s grand finale was held live from Accra, Ghana, and resulted in the five finalists pitching to a tech-savvy jury.
Trove Finance app ensures Africa-based financial institutions and individuals buy, sell and trade their publicly traded equity, bond, or exchange-traded fund across the Chinese, US, Nigerian, and global stock markets with as little as $2.
This year’s finalists were picked from 890 entrants spanning 44 countries. In addition to the induction into the Ecobank Fintech Challenge Fellowship Programme. The first, second, and third placed winners received $15,000, $12,000 and $10,000 prizes.
OKO Finance from Mali which offers affordable crop insurance products took second place and is administered via mobile. Ghana’s Motito was third place with its ‘buy-now-pay-later’ platform that offers interest-free credit at the POS to customers.
