TechInAfrica – Within the next few weeks, a Taxi hailing company, Uber will facilitate its millions of riders, drivers, and delivery partners across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East with the new Safety Toolkit.
The Uber’s Safety Toolkit contains with new innovative features intended to improve safety, transparency, accountability, and customers’ convenient. Ever since the launch of Uber mobile app, the company has been providing its customer with safety-based services. Through the new safety features, Uber expects a double protection of its community.
The new Safety Toolkit include;
1). The Emergency Button that connects its rider, drivers, and delivery-partners directly to private emergency services and security response through a third party security provider,
2). Trusted Contacts that enables its riders to select five people as “trusted contacts” and shares trip information with the selected and customizable “trusted contact’,
3). Safety Center that allows users to look for information on some of existing safety tools in the app, such as Uber’s 24/7 team, the driver and the car’s information, GPS-tracking, as well as rating and feedback system,
4). Speed Alert that is functioning as a reminder for drivers and delivery partners to stay on a safe speed within determined speed limits,
These four new Safety Toolkit features will be applied gradually, thus, not all riders, drivers and delivery partners will have an immediate access to the features.

Over the last year, we’ve been working to develop innovative products that increase transparency, accountability and peace of mind for all users. The rollout of our new Safety Toolkit features across Europe, the Middle East and Africa is the next step in making sure that we’re helping everyone stay safe and connected, wherever you might be.”
Along with the launch of Safety Toolkit, the CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi stated that Uber has put safety as the main priority for this year. Ever since his joining in the company, he has brought influential changes, including Injury Protection for riders, drivers, and delivery partners, driving hour limits, as well as Driver Share My Trip.
