Green businesses operating in Uganda are urged to apply for the accelerator programme offering free finance-focused workshops that offer discounted loans that help them scale with the intent to accelerate Uganda’s growth in two decades. Ugandan Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA) is targeting high-potential SMEs specialized in eco-tourism, sustainable transport, clean energy, green manufacturing, waste management, agro-processing, and turning raw materials into finished goods.

The press release shared on Independent Uganda opens today and closes on the 30 of November. This scheme will include capacity-building workshops and peer learning workshops delivered by implementation partners –  adelphi and Finding XY. Upon graduation from UGEFA programme, enterprises will be matched by banking partners. If they prove investible, they receive loans of which 33% are covered by UGEFA through EU funding.

Rainer Agster, Adelphi board member pointed out that the current pandemic presents a massive challenge for all enterprises as well as an opportunity for a transformation towards a greener economy.

The Uganda Enterprise Finance Accelerator is fully funded by the EU Uganda delegation and implemented by adelphi Research GmbH (an independent think-tank) and Finding XY (a Uganda non-profit). You can apply for UGEFA Programme here
