Uncover Skincare, a Kenyan company that makes beauty and skin care products for African women, has raised $1 million in seed funding to grow its operations in Kenya and open a branch in Nigeria.
Uncover Skincare, co-founded in 2020 by Sneha Mehta, Jade Oyateru, and Catherine Lee aims to change the African skincare market sector through data-led production that is matched the demands of the modern African woman.
According to the startup, the firm also offers virtual consultations and compelling content to increase reach, which has resulted in a 20-fold increase in revenue. In two years, the Uncover platform has grown its female community from zero to 60,000.
Mehta stated, “On the market, people are aware of our brand, are devoted to it, and know that our values are empowerment, education, and knowledge.
The company will use the new funding to expand to Nigeria in January. It recently added a new line of skin products to its online store.
Nigeria’s beauty market has grown a lot in the last few years, thanks to a growing population and a rise in modern retailing. Uncover wants to tap into this market. With this new funding, Uncover has raised $1.225 million since it started in 2020.
Sneha Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Uncover, said, “We’ll use the funding to launch more products, expand into new markets, and invest more in our tech and data so we can produce, reach, and market to our audience.”
