Vezeeta, a leading healthcare startup in North Africa & the Middle East has expanded its presence in Africa by launching into Nairobi, Kenya. The Cairo-born startup is now headquartered in Dubai and announced its new market entry via Linkedin.

An earlier reporting by MENAbytes, an online media publication, disclosed their intentions to venture into the Kenya and Nigerian markets.

The launch has come two months after Vezeeta closed a  $40 million Series D funding. At the close, they were valued over $100 million, an indication of their steady rise. The investment was courtesy of Abu Dhabi’s Gulf Capital and Saudi Technology Ventures.

On receiving the funding back then, the company expressed an intention to scale its business outward across the African continent.  They intend to roll out new digital capabilities in telehealth and online Pharmacy.

The announcement of a Nigeria launch is expected soon. Leading the charge of their Africa-wide expansion is the Vice President, Nana Frimpong. He was a valuable addition to the team earlier this year. At the moment, the platform only lists doctors in the Nairobi region but plans to slowly expand to other cities.

At the companies inception, it intended started as a sort-of ‘ride-hailing ambulance service’. It has since evolved since then. In September 2018, they even did a successful Serie C funding of $12 million.
