Vodacom Introduces Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) to Its Customers

TechInAfrica – The South African telecommunications provider, Vodacom, collaborates with Apple to introduce Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) to its customers, ensuring that all the Apple devices used for business purposes are secure and configured correctly. By this partnership, Vodacom emerges as the first South African telco provider to offer the program.

Vodacom’s Executive Head for Enterprise Mobility Service, Anthon Muller, remarked, “We understand that customers need an easier way to manage and secure their business devices. We have partnered with Apple so that our enterprise customers can benefit from a seamless, and cost-effective automated enrollment programme tool, that enables them to gain a competitive edge for their business.”

He continued, “Through this offering, customers can now ensure that their employees are working at an optimal rate, without any unnecessary disruptions. This is our way of not only connecting our customers to their employees, but also giving them access to the best technology to optimize their business operations, whilst providing optimal customer experience. Through the Apple Device Enrollment Program, we’re looking to offer more control, more convenience and more efficiency to businesses.”

Apple DEP works automatically through wireless device setup and enrollment to a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform of choice. Through this system, customers will be able to set up their organization’s devices without having to touch them.

With Apple DEP, customers will be able to; activate the supervised mode over the air; exercise supervisory privileges continuously over the time; modify the end user’s initial experience easier in the Apple’s Setup Assistant, and ensure the MDM enrollment in the Setup Assistant.

Furthermore, business customers are allowed to register their new or existing devices, in addition to the faster productivity updates about when Apple devices are provided directly to end users.

The introduction of Apple DEP by Vodacom is a part of its Vision 2020 strategy to encourage a connected society. It aims at delivering world digital solutions to its customer and empowering digital transformation.
