TechInAfrica – Vodacom has launched Vodacom Vibe 4G, a 4G-enabled smart feature phone at an affordable price (R299). It is designed for customers who seek a smart yet affordable device so that they can connect with others through social media platforms. According to the company, the launch of Vodacom Vibe 4G follows the successful launch of the Vodacom Vibe 3G, SA’s first smart feature phone. With the launch of the new feature phone, Vodacom wants to ensure they are keeping up with the digital trends.
Vodacom said that the new device will not only ensure a pleasurable social media surfing and instant message services but also allows voice over LTE which enables users to make calls even without 2G network. Additionally, it also has a voice over Wi-Fi capability that allows users to make calls using Wi-Fi network.
Davide Tacchino, Terminals Managing Executive at Vodacom, “In the past six years, smartphone penetration has doubled from 30% to 60% customers migrate from 2G devices to 3G and 4G smartphones. To further drive this transition and help bridge the digital divide, we have now introduced South Africa’s first 4G feature phone for just R299 having launched the country’s first smart feature phone with a traditional keypad during the course of last year.
“Customers have bought over 10 million Vodacom-branded devices such as the Kicka range, the Aspire, and Vibe 3G, to name but a few. By launching an affordable branded suite of devices, our ultimate aim is to bring down the cost to communicate and to ensure digital inclusion for all,” Teccino added.
