TechInAfrica – Vodacom Group has sold its Vodacom Business Africa (VBA) assets in three markets including Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Zambia to Synergy Communications. By this acquisition, the company will focus more on its core mobile network operations across the continent.
According to VBA, Synergy Communications will acquire 100% of its operations in the three markets. Previously, the company has already sold its assets in Angola to ITA.
The transactions support the company’s strategy in Africa to grow and strengthen its core business and rather continue to operate as a pan-African telecommunications networks provider through collaborations with local enterprises like Synergy Communications and ITA, for example.
Chairman of Synergy Communications, Andile Ngcaba said, “Synergy Communications will partner with major global cloud providers and deliver platform-based services to both multi-nationals and local enterprises.”
Vodacom noted that this transaction does not mean that the company exiting from these four markets. Instead, it wants to focus more on delivering its service to global and multinational clients within these markets through long-term commercial agreements.
“To support the sustainable growth of pan African digital economies and building connected societies, Vodacom will, via local service providers, continue to service clients in each market. We seek to leverage the collective strengths of Vodacom and Synergy Communications to meet the changing requirements of clients across each of these markets,” said Shameel Joosub, Vodacom Group’s CEO.
