Wari, a digital financial payments platform has teamed up with Lycaremit to perform low-cost fund transfers across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. This partnership will enable money transfer capabilities through WhatsApp Messenger through the Lyca mobile app during its launch.

Wari is ‘money’ in Bambara language (West Africa). Wari is based in Dakar, Senegal, and has transformed many lives with their financial services on WhatsApp allowing millions of customers to initiate financial transactions from anywhere globally. Africa has led mobile financial services as most of its residents lacked bank accounts. To date, the company has over 700,000 outlets offering multiple channels for customers to utilize.

Lycaremit and Wari partnered to create an integrated ecosystem for operations, financial services, and seamless cross-border facilitation. Wari can be accessed on WhatsApp, Wari App, Facebook Messenger, USSD, and other Points of Sale.

The chairman of Lycaremit, Allirajah Subaskaran, pointed out the company’s desire to “connect people around the world” and help “send money and to friends and loved ones” across borders. The CEO of Kabirou Mbodje believes the partnership will “provide more options to foreign communities.”
