Wedding Registry NG is an e-commerce platform but one with a difference. It’s entirely focused on wedding gifts. The startup seeks to help couples get their gifts of choice and reduce the burden on guests, who sometimes encounter challenges when choosing wedding gifts to present.

The startup was founded by Iwendi and Daisy Okwa, two Nigerian entrepreneurs who spot the gap the market had and introduced a web platform where guests can order the right gifts for couples. The Wedding NG will compete with Africa e-commerce heavyweights, Jumia, and Konga. But its focused service, which is on wedding gifts, will set it apart.

According to one of the co-founders, Iwendi, the business showed a lot of promise before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Now, weddings are on hold and would only resume when the lock-down is eased.

Wedding Registry NG takes a 10 percent commission when gifts are bought via its platform. It also plans to run a series of marketing campaigns to generate more leads once the lock-down is over.

Wedding Registry NG Expansion Plan

Currently, Wedding Registry NG operates in Nigeria and provides its service to users in Nigeria. However, the startup plans to expand to Ghana in 2021, and in 2023, spread across the African continent.
