Welcoming Samsung’s Highly-Anticipated Foldable Phone

Share

TechInAfrica – Foldable phones have long been a controversial topic amongst tech enthusiasts and gadget manufacturers alike. Despite Samsung’s attempt at Galaxy Fold—which has been superficially awkward, considering the numerous breaks and malfunctions after mere days of use, the tech giant says it will yet again launch the highly-anticipated foldable phone. Because of numerous reports of breakdowns months ago, the phone’s release has been halted into a delay for a relatively long time. Yet, after nearly eight years in the production phase (and nearly six months in the refinement phase, no less) Samsung finally decided that it will introduce Galaxy Fold on Friday.

With a price tag of approximately $2,000, the company aims to spark demand for its high-end phones, pitching itself towards a pit against other potential competitors. Boasting a capacity of 5G networking, Galaxy Fold will first be introduced in South Korea—before eventually moving globally.

Despite this, some critiques and reviewers are still skeptical towards this notion; considering Samsung has a history of having malfunctions of their major products. Other than the initial phases of release of Galaxy Fold, the previous releases of Galaxy Note 7 (circa 2016 if we remember correctly) were also experiencing faulty batteries in which they would explode at uncertain times. Yikes.

Revamping from their past mistakes, it’s highly likely that this renewed edition of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold will have no visible screen protector—in the previous edition, users mistakenly peeled this layer off, thinking it was just a standard anti-scratch coating. In addition, Samsung has also implemented reinforced screen to reduce potential risks of damaging the screen.

If the company’s revamp and reevaluation bears fruit, this could put Samsung at least one step ahead from its competitors like Apple and Huawei—which have seen rivalry for as long as we could remember.
