Vutlharhi Valoyi won the award on MTN on demand deliver the app. Valoyi is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zulzi app. The app helps in the delivery of groceries to the doorsteps of its customers. The delivery takes place in an hour. The app is well known in Johannesburg. Since the launch, the company has made 15,000 order deliveries.
Valoyi had a keen interest in the startup’s progress. More specifically on those that won the MTN award. He later learned more about their profiles. It is still early to realize the importance of the awards to Zulzi according to Valoyi. The company won the Best Breakthrough Developer category. Since then there has been a lot of interest from potential funders, investors, and users.
Valoyi is a computer engineer. He comes from Ntshuxi village outside Giyani in Limpopo province. He has a BSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of the Witwatersrand. Valoyi, later on, got a job by Software Company in Cape Town. He worked for many companies in communication and information sector. This came after he had relocated to Johannesburg. Zulzi was formed in 2014. It used to be an e-commerce company that sold textbooks and electronic equipment. University students were the esteemed customers by then.
In 2015 the company wanted to offer speedier services and reduce the time used in deliveries. There was an increase in demand for the company’s services by 30%. This increased the market coverage. The customers have to download the Zulzi app on iOS and Android mobile phone platforms. This will help them use Dis-Chem, Riverside, and Woolworths. Food outlets and restaurants are also in the app. Valoyi is looking forward to expanding the business to Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria.
