The Women In Business Initative Boosts Female Leadership Through Three Flagship Actions

TechInAfrica – According to the observation data taken three years ago by the Africa CEO Forum, female CEOs in Africa only hit 5% and occupied around 14% of boardroom positions. This fact has motivated the Africa CEO Forum to enhance female leadership. Through its annual event, the forum selects a key priority to be discussed with the entire business community.

Through this forum, the Women In Business initiative and Globacom organize three flagship actions, including:

  1. A Panel of Discussion

On this panel discussion, high track record women will discuss the conditions and means that are required to make their presence in Africa’s boardrooms. Bella Disu, the Executive Vice President of Globacom will open the discussion by sharing her experience on how to reach success and overcome her challenges.

  1. A Workshop

There will be a workshop attended by 100 business leaders, men and women. There are several important goals they want to achieve in this workshop, such as:

  • Men and women work together to develop a diversity charter in the workforce
  • Increasing the awareness of gender diversity among senior executives
  • Implementing real actions to increase the quota of women in business
  • Applying human resource policies to identify and promote female talents

  1. Gender Leader Awards

The final initiative of the forum will be the Gender Leader Award that high will highlight the Africa CEO Forum Awards 2019. This awards will be granted to a company that has promoted female leadership within its management system based on three main categories, including women’s representation on the company’s board of directors, the percentage of women on the executive committees of the group and its subsidiaries, as well as the strategy of the company to promote female leadership.
