Works on the extension and conversion of the Institute Specializing in Aeronautics and Airport Logistics Trades (ISMALA) has begun. The work will be co-financed by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation that has invested $6.6 million in the project through the MCA-Morocco “Charaka Fund.”

Once the works are completed, Nouaceur will provide 1200 vocational training spaces across nine airports and aeronautics trade sectors. The sectors are heat treatment, airport logistics, digital machinery, surface treatment, aircraft maintenance mechanics, aeronautical welding, and aerostructure.

Moulay Hafid Elalamy, the Minister for Industry present at the construction launch, identified 142 companies operating in the fields that produce 42% of Morocco’s aeronautics components. MCA-Morocco puts the upgrade of ISMALA airport and aeronautical trades as an opportunity to create 12,670  professional opportunities for trainees countrywide.

The Charaka Fund

The fund is a partnership between the US and Morocco, signed under the “Compact II” cooperation program, with a $450 million budget, financed via the US Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
