You can now nominate your favorite techie for the Top 15 Young Geeks initiative

The Geekulcha platform aims to play a role in South Africa’s vision 2030 National Development plan. The aim is to grow the country’s digital skills capacity. As part of the youth month programme in June, Geekulcha will name and honor the Top 15 Young Geeks in South Africa. These are the minds that will play a key role in the  Digital Revolution of the continent.

The programme is held in association with Brainstorm Magazine and ITWeb.The theme for this year is ‘Geek Culture Beyond the Surface’ and will showcase the industry’s top talent. A keen focus will be given to solutions that arise during the pandemic.

Kutlwano Tshatiwa, 2020’s finalist, is a software developer disclosed how participation in the Top 15 Geeks  programme resulted in exposure to  industry experts whohelped him narrow onto a certain niche – Machine learning and AI.

He also completed a Coursera certificate from Stanford University and is currently pursuing a specialization course on deep learning. Nominations to the  Top 15 Young Geeks  remain open till March 31. The top 15 will be revealed in June as the country marks youth month.
